Futur-E-Learning

The term Learning means the capacity of a mind to imbibe, comprehend, retain or store, & recall information based on an Individual's perception. The exactness of the information understood, however, depends upon, any or different combinations of an Individual's learning modalities
(Visual/Auditory/Kinesthetic- VAK).

Learning on the palm or lap

In a gadget-centric world, E-Learning is the first Learning exposure a toddler gets today through mobile phones as the medium. Parents can gauge their child’s modality of learning during early years by observing
  • How the child drifts into a good mood by just listening to a song or rhyme on the mobile phone
  • If the child looks disinterested or unhappy when the song or rhyme it is listening to does not have appealing images or video
  • If the child is making an effort to imitate an adult’s action of using the mobile
In short, E-Learning promotes all the three aspects of a Learning Experience. However, the drawback is, the child would evolve into an Individual with low or no Interpersonal skills & suppressed physical & mental growth.

The flipside of E-Learning is to introduce it at the right level, right time, and the right place. An adult attending an E-Learning course will benefit if the individual possesses the required conceptual knowledge about the subject opted for learning that would ensure the exactness of the subjects' understanding, & the achievement of the desired result. Processes in an organization are documented as E-Learning modules to eradicate the loss of subject matter & to meet business exigencies such as employee attrition. A good E-Learning module holds the attention of the learner & reduces the cost of Training in an attrition cycle. While E-Learning promotes experiential learning of a person, it lacks the interactive learning experience.

E-Learning- The Benefits
  • E-Learning modules broken down into chunks of learning, help not to affect the routine of Individuals, who avail & access the content at leisure. The courses can be bought at reasonable prices & stored for frequent viewing & learning
  • E-Learning promotes learning reinforcement, & helps in quick revision of the subject for both students & professionals
  • It supports the Teachers/Trainers/Coaches to present content in the most simplified & exhaustive manner, which is not possible during interactive sessions

E-Learning- The Setbacks
  • E-Learning is not an effective learning tool for Therapeutic subjects, & sports which require an intense kinesthetic learning approach
  • It may seem inconvenient for those not comfortable using the electronic mediums- (Laptops, mobiles, etc.) to learn. Conceptual knowledge is a must for E-Learning
  • The feedback mechanism, & managing change control can defeat the purpose of learning, as implementing changes to the content is time-consuming, making content redundant

Learning is a never-ending sea. The challenges we face in our daily lives, always help us find a simplified way out to meet them. The future of learning is on its way to finding new ways, tools, techniques, & methods of imparting the knowledge. E-Learning may be what the future of learning is looking for.
