A Meeting with The Outcome!

Our struggles in life, are a result of what we consciously choose to ignore, overlook, & simplify, & make our unconscious mind develop a belief about something that is not holistic. Our desired outcome generally suffers, as we remain unaware of these hazards.

An outcome is the sum of the factors (efforts, sacrifices, commitment, & determination) of a person. These factors evolve in the journey to achieve the desired result.

Ignoring, overlooking, & simplifying any criteria before you set out to achieve a goal, highlights lack of pre-preparedness.

Productive efforts, sacrifices that demand (scarcer or no relationship/mental/& physical stress), A commitment that is supported by those who matter to the person with a goal, are what which make a determined achiever.

How to develop meaningful criteria, for the desired outcome?

Make sure to be clear

Let the tone of your approach resonate what you specifically want, & not what you don’t want. Consciously make an effort to challenge the thought which stops you from reaching your goal sooner. I want to own a sports car is clear & specific, as opposed to, I don’t like a sedan which resonates a negative tone.

Start from the last.

Imagine, as if you have achieved the goal. Experience the feelings associated with that achievement fill up your senses. Be the one who motivates you.

Feel Compelled, not pressurized

A guilty feeling about something not done, not attended, according to the goal plan, on a given day is a sign that your goal is attractive & does not stress you.

Check well, to be well

While it is essential to know what we want from our lives, it is equally important to check the scope of our Goal before we set out. In most cases, the anguish we inflict upon ourselves is due to the initial enthusiasm we bless ourselves with, ignoring our ecology, our environment, or the impact of our decision or goal on our relationships. Considering simple factors before you set out to achieve your goal, helps you plan for the contingencies & prepares you for next steps. Ignoring these factors may leave you devoid of the moral support & strength you need from your loved ones & will make you seem like a loser although you can win.

Remember, healthy relationships pave a seamless path to achieving milestones.

Create a blueprint

Making sure, that a goal is planned & tested, for no dependency on anyone, except the initiator is an achievement in itself. A goal within the initiator's control is always stable & progressive.

Define the goal’s purpose

What, when, where, whom, & how the goal is going to effect, are significant facts about a goal which needs attention. I will communicate better, is a vague goal as opposed to, I will communicate to our stakeholders with facts & figures, the financial status of the business, starting from the fiscal year 2017-2018, is a well-defined goal.

Know the Inside-Out

A robust way to achieve a goal is, understanding your strengths, & weaknesses (knowing yourself on the inside), & knowing the tools, techniques, training, & the resource to obtain all the required information about your goal (knowing the outside).

Will you know, when you have arrived?

Your desired outcome is dependent on the parameters set, to know when it gets realized. Make sure the required measures are taken by you to outline the same.

Get, Set, & Go. Be Led by clarity & say bye to ambiguity!

Learn to Un-Learn!

Every Human Being is a rolling ball of thoughts. We grab some dust of knowledge, & we scatter some of it in the process of rolling. This rolling Ball is stained with Values, Beliefs, Traits & Motives, that the particles of knowledge left on it, routed through the thoughts.

An Individual is like a clay model moulded into a unique structure. The early age of human life sets the stage for the unconscious mind to become the propeller of one’s life. The unconscious mind retains as impressions or residuals (Values, Motives, Habits, Beliefs, Language, etc.…), all the experiences of the conscious mind (The perception of the 5 sense organs), basis the significance the experiences hold in one's life.

We must understand that we are driven by the limitations we practised in understanding situations, and be open to evolving with every breath we take!

The Human behaviours, patterns, & actions get determined by the residuals of the unconscious mind. The residuals are formed based on selective perception. People may differ with their thoughts & ideas about a situation based on the residual formation in their map of the world. An on-looker observing a child, playing a game of throwing things far may conclude thinking the child is rough, as opposed to another on-looker who may think the child must be an amazing throw ball player.

We ought to learn to unlearn & learn ANEW!

Human metamorphosis has designed human beings to question possibilities, & also make things possible. A WHY? May not be a necessary question to be asked ever. Questioning WHY in complex situations of life dealing with human emotions & relationships can lead to further complexities. A question like Why do you hate her? Makes one focus on the negative aspects of a person, but rephrasing the question as, “What must she do for you to like her?” draws the attention of the person questioned to focus on the positive aspects of the person in question. This is a simple way to unlearn inappropriate ways of questioning.

We must learn to Focus on what we want, rather than what we don’t want or what according to us is wrong!

Turbulence within the mind triggers distress in life. It is essential to understand, a choice we make at any given point in time is the best one we opt for, from all the available ones. Regret is an opportunity to recoup, what we thought we might have lost. It is another chance to make the right choice.

The next time you regret, pause for a while & think what must you start doing to ferry yourself over to the river bank of your dream. Imagine in your mind & look at yourself living in the state of what you desire. Walk backwards, set milestones to reach where you imagine yourself to be.

Remember the conflict within us in most cases is about we not doing anything, to be who we want to be. Considering the pros & cons of our actions will help us eradicate the conflicts we inflict upon us.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is about Learning to Un-Learn, to Learn Anew!

Creating a Coaching Culture

Creating a coaching culture in an organisation is the best way to engage employees. It creates a sense of belonging and employees connect with the organisation.

A coaching culture simply means supporting your employees so that they learn new skills and become greater assets to the company. A management culture that emphasizes training, regular feedback, and opportunities for growth creates a more engaged and energized workforce.

The Coach and Coachee relationship is the most remarkable journey both go through. It’s all about the human connect that is required at the workplace, though we work with systems!
The amount of time that people waste on failures, rather than putting that energy into another project, always amazes me. I have fun running the Virgin businesses, so a setback is never a bad experience, just a learning curve. – Sir Richard Branson.
Sir Richard Branson is regarded as a ‘natural’ coach and Virgin as an example of an exemplary corporate coaching culture. We have seen the growth of the company and the echelons it has reached.

A corporate coaching culture allows people to:
  • take responsibility for their own actions
  • take risks and contribute their own creative ideas
  • treat mistakes and set-backs as valuable learning experiences
  • speak up, challenge and express conflicting views
  • offer constructive and motivating feedback
  • feel appreciated and that their contribution matters
  • raise motivation and performance to achieve better results
  • form cohesive and high achieving teams
Creating a corporate coaching culture is challenging, motivating and fun! Even more importantly, everybody benefits. Confidence grows, teams flourish, managers and leaders develop, performance improves and productivity increases. Creativity and ideas abound, stimulating a range of new opportunities.

Does your Organisation have a Coaching Culture too? If not, it’s time to think now and take action!

Emotional Intelligence – Boosting Sales

Does Emotional intelligence training help in boosting Sales ?

How many of us have given it a thought? How many have observed or noticed that many sales representatives who followed all the sales processes, with great precision and did every thing right from the rule book, still lost out to some who were not as competent to them?

Sales success today to a great degree depends on Emotional Intelligence. If a sales person has the ability to identify and understand his own emotions and emotions of others, then he knows when and how to say what and is able to connect well with his customers,. He builds a good rapport, lasting relationships, leading to success stories in selling!

As of now, Emotional Intelligence Development is in the natal stage for most sales departments. However integrating this training with Consultative Selling Skills and linking it to product training would lead to enormous gains and help in achieving sales targets with ease.

In today’s scenario training departments are realising the importance of Emotional Intelligence being critical in areas of self-development and an holistic approach to selling. They are confident, proactive, positively motivated, problem solve self-manage, and are therefore more engaged employees with higher rates of job satisfaction!

Futur-E-Learning

The term Learning means the capacity of a mind to imbibe, comprehend, retain or store, & recall information based on an Individual's perception. The exactness of the information understood, however, depends upon, any or different combinations of an Individual's learning modalities
(Visual/Auditory/Kinesthetic- VAK).

Learning on the palm or lap

In a gadget-centric world, E-Learning is the first Learning exposure a toddler gets today through mobile phones as the medium. Parents can gauge their child’s modality of learning during early years by observing
  • How the child drifts into a good mood by just listening to a song or rhyme on the mobile phone
  • If the child looks disinterested or unhappy when the song or rhyme it is listening to does not have appealing images or video
  • If the child is making an effort to imitate an adult’s action of using the mobile
In short, E-Learning promotes all the three aspects of a Learning Experience. However, the drawback is, the child would evolve into an Individual with low or no Interpersonal skills & suppressed physical & mental growth.

The flipside of E-Learning is to introduce it at the right level, right time, and the right place. An adult attending an E-Learning course will benefit if the individual possesses the required conceptual knowledge about the subject opted for learning that would ensure the exactness of the subjects' understanding, & the achievement of the desired result. Processes in an organization are documented as E-Learning modules to eradicate the loss of subject matter & to meet business exigencies such as employee attrition. A good E-Learning module holds the attention of the learner & reduces the cost of Training in an attrition cycle. While E-Learning promotes experiential learning of a person, it lacks the interactive learning experience.

E-Learning- The Benefits
  • E-Learning modules broken down into chunks of learning, help not to affect the routine of Individuals, who avail & access the content at leisure. The courses can be bought at reasonable prices & stored for frequent viewing & learning
  • E-Learning promotes learning reinforcement, & helps in quick revision of the subject for both students & professionals
  • It supports the Teachers/Trainers/Coaches to present content in the most simplified & exhaustive manner, which is not possible during interactive sessions

E-Learning- The Setbacks
  • E-Learning is not an effective learning tool for Therapeutic subjects, & sports which require an intense kinesthetic learning approach
  • It may seem inconvenient for those not comfortable using the electronic mediums- (Laptops, mobiles, etc.) to learn. Conceptual knowledge is a must for E-Learning
  • The feedback mechanism, & managing change control can defeat the purpose of learning, as implementing changes to the content is time-consuming, making content redundant

Learning is a never-ending sea. The challenges we face in our daily lives, always help us find a simplified way out to meet them. The future of learning is on its way to finding new ways, tools, techniques, & methods of imparting the knowledge. E-Learning may be what the future of learning is looking for.

Will e-learning dominate the future?

Is E-learning going to dominate in the future?

For the past two decades, there has been an increasing emphasis on the use of e-learning, with many e-learning advocates arguing that not only is e-learning less expensive than bringing employees together in a classroom, but also that e-learning is actually a more effective learning method than face-to-face instructor-led training. Some e-learning zealots have even claimed that e-learning is always the better solution to learning needs.

E-learning, in our view, certainly can be an effective learning method for some subjects and an effective adjunct to instructor-led training in many other instances. There is no doubt that e-learning can reduce costs for participant travel, for building and maintaining classroom facilities, and for instructors. But there are many instances in which face-to-face instructor-led training is still the best solution to learning needs. Some of the advantages I would like to mention.

Confidentiality

A good classroom instructor will create a safe environment for learning and get the participants to agree that anything that is said or done in the classroom is confidential (“What’s done in the classroom stays in the classroom”). For example, in a management training class, a participant may want to discuss a specific problem he or she is having with a particular employee. In an asynchronous e-learning environment, this isn’t possible. In a synchronous e-learning environment, the manager may be leery of talking about a specific employee problem because he or she doesn’t know who else is participating in the class and is worried about the discussion becoming known by that employee.

Learning From Other Participants

In every class or conference, we have found that at least half the value received comes not from the training content (no matter how good it may be), but from informal interaction with other participants, during the class, at breaks, or over lunch, dinner, or drinks. While online discussion groups can offer such opportunities for informal interaction, they cannot match the experience of interacting face-to-face.

Breaking down Silos
Getting people from different business units and functional groups together in a classroom can help to break down the silos that inhibit cross-unit dialogue and cooperation. At one company, a management training program that brought people together from different business units around the globe resulted in two managers from different business units developing an idea for a new company business that resulted in a new business unit that yielded hundreds of millions of dollars a year in new revenue, and the new business unit could not have been created by either of the business units alone. In many other cases, we have seen problems solved more quickly because a participant was able to get help from another person in a class instead of sending a request up through his business unit, across the top level to another unit, and then down that hierarchy to get the help that was needed.

However, we cannot deny the fact we do require E-learning methodology as a support for the classroom session. A good blend of the two different worlds will give an overall need for the employee(s)
